Well-Suited for Low-Flow Cases

  • The integrated Advanced Breathing System (ABS) provides a low circuit volume (2.7 L), delivering speedy response.
  • The rising multi-breath bellows provides visual feedback in evaluating patient status.

The 360° Difference:  INview* Patient Displays

  • The Aisys Carestation INview large-panel displays are mounted on a movable arm which enables 360°of rotation.
  • Position the displays to accommodate your preference. The INview system puts critical patient data and machine controls in view and within reach.

Electronic Control – A Different Technology

  • The digital nature of the Aisys Carestation vaporization includes continuous monitoring by multiple embedded sensors to ensure precise delivery.
  • The Aisys Carestation’s electronic agent control provides exceptional benefits, including automated record keeping of set agent concentrations and agent usage calculations.
  • Agent-specific Cassettes can be utilized to deliver isoflurane, sevoflurane, and desflurane anesthetic agents.
  • Low Agent Alarm will alert clinician when the agent volume in cassette is low.
  • The communication protocol enables data continuity.

GE Healthcare defines digital to mean that all core elements of the anesthesia system – the ventilation, vaporization, and gas delivery – are digitally controlled and measured.

A digital anesthesia system also includes advanced communication protocols that enable digital data communication.

Digital Ventilation

  • A comprehensive view of the patient’s ventilation status is displayed and compared in flow, volume, and pressure loops over time.
  • The ventilator distinguishes between mechanical vs. spontaneous breathing, and responds with a corresponding color change in the waveform.

Digital Vaporization

  • By providing consistent outputs in a wide range of flow rates and carrier gas mixes, the digital vaporization delivers a high level of accuracy.
  • The digital vaporization alerts provide clinicians with agent-level alarms for all supported agents.

Digital Gas Mixing and Delivery

  • Each gas is simultaneously monitored with multiple sensors.
  • The gas sample is measured and maintained at standard temperature and pressure (STP).

Digital Data Communications

  • The three core elements of the Aisys Carestation are engineered with their own internal communication protocols, enabling digital communication.
  • The communication protocols provide data continuity.
  • Multiple CPUs engineered into the system provide protection against a single failure point and may aid in preventing excess maintenance costs.

PCV-VG – Pressure Control Ventilation Volume Guaranteed

Compliance in your patient’s lungs can change with each new breath. Pressure Control helps maximize time for gas exchange while delivering constant volume regardless of compliance changes.

PCV-VG delivers the same tidal volume with inclusion of the documented benefits of Pressure Control Ventilation.

  • PCV-VG helps ensure that your patients receive the same volume regardless of compliance changes caused by packs, retractors, position, surgical exposure or relaxation.
  • Get consistent tidal volume in the wake of compliance changes.
  • In PCV-VG, the Smartvent 7900 delivers the preset tidal volume with low pressure using a decelerating flow.
  • The first breath delivered to the patient is a volume-controlled breath; this is visible on the screen with a ‘square’ flow waveform and a ‘shark-fin’ pressure waveform.
  • The patient’s compliance is determined from this volume breath, and the inspiratory pressure level is then established for the subsequent PCV-VG breaths. PCV-VG breaths are characterized by a decelerating flow waveform and a square pressure waveform.

PSVPro* – Pressure Supported Ventilation

The GE Healthcare 7900 SmartVent’s  advanced feature PSVPro (Pressure Supported Ventilation) expands the clinical capabilities of the Anesthesia Delivery portfolio to help meet the individual requirements of your patient.

With a broad patient range capability, an adjustable flow trigger, PEEP, and an apnea backup mode, the PSVPro mode can help to simplify the work of caring for your spontaneously breathing patient. PSV supports spontaneous breathing by supplementing pressure to the airway in response to patient initiated breaths.

  • During PSV, once a breath is initiated, the ventilator pressurizes the airway to a given inspiratory support pressure (Psupport).
  • The “Pro” aspect of PSVPro refers to the apnea backup feature. After a clinician-selected interval of time, apneic patients are mechanically ventilated with a SIMV pressure mode.

PSV Pro:

  • Assists in overcoming the resistance within the breathing circuit and patient circuit, helping decrease the patient’s effort in breathing
  • Helps counter the reduction in the patient’s functional residual capacity (FRC) and the decrease in muscle contraction due to the anesthetics
  • May be used with LMAs due to its lower airway pressures
  • With automatic apnea backup mode, uses an SIMV-PC + PSV mode to maintain a minimum minute ventilation in the event the patient ceases spontaneous breathing.
  • With adjustable inspiration termination, allows fine-tuning to the patient’s breathing pattern.
  • Supports virtually all spontaneous breaths
  • Uses a decelerating flow pattern (optimizes inspiratory flow)
  • Sustains or enhances the patient’s tidal volume and etCO2 maintenance

SIMV – Synchronized Intermittent Mandatory Ventilation

7900 SmartVent advanced feature SIMV (Synchronized Intermittent Mandatory Ventilation) expands the clinical capabilities of our anesthesia delivery portfolio to help address the needs of your patient.

With broad patient range capability, an adjustable flow trigger, and trigger window, the SIMV mode helps simplify the work of caring for your spontaneously breathing patients.

SIMV is engineered to provide assured rates and tidal volumes in a manner which supplements the patient’s own spontaneous efforts. By synchronizing with the patient’s effort, the ventilator responds to the patient’s breathing characteristics.

Synchronized Intermittent Mandatory Ventilation enables the ventilator to determine a patient’s own breathing and allow spontaneous breathing between mechanical ventilations. All while providing sufficient mandatory breaths should the patient’s own rate fall below a preset value.

Because of the synchronization inherent in SIMV mode, the ventilator assists the patient’s own breath when that breath falls within the synchronization window as specified by the clinician. These synchronized ventilations can help overcome difficulties experienced when patients attempt to compete with controlled mechanical ventilation.

During general anesthesia, various agents can affect the patient’s overall respiratory rate and volume. These agents would include narcotics, inhalation agents, neuromuscular blocking agents, sedatives, or any combination of these. The application of SIMV is well suited to manage these situations and provides for a minimum volume.

  • SmartVent tidal volume compensation system operates in all mandatory breaths.
  • Adjustable trigger window enables fine-tuning to the patient’s breathing pattern.
  • Respiratory rate is adjustable from 2 to 60 bpm.
  • Provides assured rate and tidal volume for a minimum minute ventilation
  • Automatic synchronization with mandatory breaths
  • Improved synchronization of breaths helps the ventilator respond to the patient’s breathing needs.

Other Features

  • Entropy module helps clinicians monitor the state of the central nervous system.
  • Patient Spirometry measures airway pressures, flow, volumes, compliance and airway resistance, breath by breath at the patient’s airway.
  • The neuromuscular transmission (NMT) module provides a continuous quantitative measurement of patients’ responses to nerve stimulation and regional block.
  • The 7900 SmartVent™ is versatile enough to accommodate a wide range of patients: neonates, cardiac, compromised and routine cases.
